Greg Barker, Rt Hon the Lord Barker of Battle PC

Greg Barker (“Lord Barker of Battle”) has chaired EVN since 2017 and has helped guide the Group on its journey to become the  UK’s leading super-fast EV charging infrastructure business.

After an early City career in finance and investor relations, Greg helped lead the buy out and subsequent growth of the recruitment advertising business, Bartlett Scott Merton prior to its successful sale to TMP Worldwide in 2001.

That same year, he entered the House of Commons, representing Bexhill & Battle until 2015. An influential thought leader on the Green Economy and climate and energy policy, under Prime Minister Cameron he became the longest serving Energy Minister for a generation and remains the longest serving UK Climate Change Minister to date. Credited by the former Chancellor George Osborne with the creation of the Green Investment Bank and widely recognised as a major architect of David Cameron’s pioneering Green agenda, which was a hallmark of Cameron’s early leadership, Greg Barker’s time in ministerial office was marked by the massive step change in the UK roll out of renewable and decentralised energy and after founding the Capital Markets Climate Initiative, the mobilisation of  international climate finance.
